This is the painless, sci-fi-looking end of hair-loss treatment: the caps, helmets, and in-salon panels that glow red. The science underneath is real and reasonably well understood: red light in roughly the 630-670nm range is absorbed by your follicle cells' mitochondria (their little power plants), which boosts cellular energy and can support the hair's growth phase. Some devices add blue light, which is more about controlling scalp bacteria than growth. There's no heat, no needles, no downtime.

The evidence here is genuinely supportive: randomised trials and recent reviews (including a 2025 meta-analysis) find that LLLT can help hair density for pattern hair loss, and it's even better as a companion to established treatments rather than a replacement.
